PIR/Professional Development Approval Process

 
Requirements:
1) Time spent must be outside the contract day/year;
2) between July 1 and June 30 of the same school year;
3) be pre-approved by building principal and assistant superintendent.

The District may or may not pay for related expenses but may grant permission to gain PIR credit.

PIR activities must meet definition of Staff Development: Activities designed to supplement, enhance, and upgrade professional skills or knowledge base. Any professional development activity must be:

1. a planned and structured experience
2. of benefit to the certificate holder's professional development; and
3. an exposure to a new idea or skill or an extension of an existing idea or skill.
