• Position Title:      At-Risk Coordinator

    Department:        General Education

    Reports To:          Superintendent


    SUMMARY:   Serves as coordinator of At-Risk students and programming.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:        Other duties may be assigned.

    • Collect and disseminate data regarding dropouts in the District.
    • Coordinate the District’s program for students who are at high risk of dropping out of school.
    • Annual preparation of a dropout reduction plan.
    • Aid in providing a remedial and support program for any student who is at risk of dropping out of school.
    • All other duties as outlined in HPS Board Policy 3610.
    • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.  

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and to respond to questions from school administrators, teachers, parents, and the general public. 

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   Ability to operate computers and related software. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with teachers, administrators, parents and community members.  Ability to deal effectively with confidential matters.  Ability to follow directions.  Ability to work as part of a team.  Ability to deal with flexible scheduling.  Must possess valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and or walk, talk, hear and stand.  The employee must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.  The employee must be able to conduct work related business via the telephone.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.  Duties are performed primarily indoors with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
