    RE: Reopening, Face Coverings

At the April 13 Havre School Board of Trustees meeting the board took action on the following items:

    • Return K-5 students to 5 days of in-person instruction beginning Monday, April 26. Students who are group C will remain remote through the remainder of the school year.

    • 6-12 students will remain in schedule 3A through the remainder of the school year, with Fridays being used as remote teaching and learning days and allowing students to report to school for additional support.

With regard to face coverings, the following statement was removed from Policy 1905: “Board Policy 1905 is effective immediately until the per capita spread of the COVID-19 in Hill County is 10 per 100,000 for two consecutive weeks.  The Board will take action on the suspension of this Policy if necessary at the subsequent HPS Board of Trustees meeting.”

The board updated the policy to remove reference to 6 feet of social and physical distancing and substitute the CDC recommended distance of 3 feet. Face coverings will still be required when social and physical distancing of 3 feet cannot be maintained on school district properties.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and understanding during the phases of returning students to the learning environment. More information will be released in the coming weeks about a summer learning program for students K-8. We plan to have summer school for students in grades 9-12 at Havre High School.

Again, thank you, and Go Blue Ponies!

    Sincerely,

    Craig Mueller

    Havre Public Schools Superintendent
